I had been through a lot of shit too. I'm suffering from the worst case anxiety and CPTSD and depression because of it. When my girlfriend and I first met i was a bit of a train wreck (and allegedly straight) but now she is the only one who can take me off an edge, the only reason I'm at least trying to be optimistic for, and I'm pretty grateful about it. But its still not vanilla for me, it doesn't just disappear , it never goes away, the nightmares, the being suspicious all the time, the flinching when someone is too close, the mood swings etc. but we just learn how to cope with it and find our own way around it. My point is that in my case - therapy was shit. It wasn't helping ,it would just make everything worse. You just have sometimes to find another way. Sometimes help comes from the most unpredictable places....

Get another therapist. Usually, young therapist that finished traning and are still working under supervision can be found. They charge less and tend to be more civil (as in less prejudiced from their experiences). About techniques - I'm personally proponent of talking cure (regardless of what school of thought the underlying theory is based). Best of luck to you

Look in the mirror. Forgive yourself. Tell yourself you matter. Stop blaming others and the world for your misfortunes. Understand therapists have issues too. Get a new therapist. Move on.

I did the same in a way. Came back from deployment, and was abusing alcohol to an extreme and fucked in the head. Went to get help on post, and the person was so disingenuous and what not I decided to just figure it out on my own. I dont suggest it for people, but I do think it can be done. I found introspection, being positive and actively working on yourself can help. More power to you, hope it works out and dont give up.

what messed up childhood you had?? care to explain or mention some info. Good that she left you,now you know that there is no one to help you but YOU... So go out, hit gyms, make friends. you know what is your problem, and i think you can solve it. and when ppl give you advise take it instead of saying what if ppl blah blah cannot 6 packs and blah blah.. dont over run their opinions..

focus on yourself, don't listen to people, don't ever search for the aknowledgement of others be the best you can be so you can meet god as an equal. Everybody has doubts some are just better at hidding it than others, everybody who want to reach pass the top always believe he is not good enough but keep the head up. Wanting to change is not a sign of weakness, it's a proof you are human. not evolving is the same as death.

So OP... You legit? If so... don't let this shit get you down, man... I had to fight through a hell of mountain of mental blocks to get out of the mud. But you have the right idea.. reach out for support.. I know what the world thinks of gers... but we aren't all bad... Sone of these kids (and adults) are downright good folks!! I need this too. I made a huge step to make an appointment with a councilor here only to ding out my insurance won't cover it and it's 300 an hour. I can't afford that, so I'm stuck trying to figure out a cheaper counselor or try to help myself.

The therapist was just testing you to see if you would speak up for yourself obviously that's one of your problems you don't stick up for yourself.
